The First Congregation of the Presbyterian Church at Springfield. The congregation was formed in 1745 and met in a small log cabin from 1745 - 1761. A larger sanctuary was constructed in 1761 that was burned by the British forces in 1780 (see American Revolution). The third and present building (shown at left, in a 1905 photo) was built in 1791.
