Weekly Writing Class: “Stories from the Storm,” with Lauren Graeber
How do you find the words to tell the stories of the storms you’ve survived? Whether that’s Hurricane Helene and its aftermath, a worrying diagnosis, loss and the grief that follows, or any other of life’s various storms, writing about those experiences can feel impossible, but it doesn’t have to be.
Emily Dickinson wrote “Tell all the truth but tell it slant”. What if we come at our hardest stories from surprising angles? What if that’s our way in, or what if you would just like to have a record of what you endured and what you’ve overcome?
Join with others for a time of guided writing designed to help you find your words. The time is designed to help you begin writing, rather than to construct a finished narrative for publication, but we will be generating a lot of material you could work with.
No formal writing experience is necessary and no sharing will be required. All materials will be provided, but if you have a favorite notebook and pen, bring those with you!
