We all have Montreat memories. As we share them, the Montreat Experience deepens for everyone.
This summer, writers Lauren Graeber and Shelby Wardlaw led writing workshops at the PHC designed to encourage participants to commit their memories to paper.
Exercises helped those in the workshops to recover details long thought forgotten and to record reactions and feelings to remembered events. Individuals left with a renewed sense of their Montreat Experience and added to their own memory bank by hearing the stories of others. They also honed valuable communication skills.
One participant indicated that in his work in succession planning he now uses stories about people in his blog posts, including significant detail that help his readers empathize with the situation.
The PHC wants you to share your memories with us. Housed in a collective repository and available to all, they will further illuminate our understanding of the Montreat Experience.
Do you remember swimming in Lake Susan? The sliding boards? The docks out in the middle? The diving tower? The Camp Montreat water show? What forgotten details pop up as you reflect on an event?
Every memory that each of us adds will deepen our collective understanding and add to Montreat history.
